Welcome to my blog, Bob Mitchell in the 21st Century. This is the place where I get to talk about cool stuff like comics because my girlfriend won’t let me talk about it in the real world.

I started reading comics around 1977 or 1978 when I was aged four or five, and there was a wonderful collission between comics and movies like Star Wars and Superman that I’m still reeling from today.

When I’m not being a geek I’m a mild-mannered reporter by trade, and I’ve won Scottish Weekly Journalist of the Year twice, in 2005 and 2006.

Back in the day I spent two years stumbling drunk around Edinburgh in the early Nineties while I was getting my Journalism diploma from Napier University, then I decided I liked it so much that I went to Glasgow University for another four years to get a History degree.

I live in Coatbridge and play second row with local rugby side Waysiders/Drumpellier. Well, my back is giving me a bit of grief so I’m more into the social side of rugby at the moment, which involves one of the other great loves of my life, beer.

Anyways, hope you enjoy the blog. Bob Mitchell in the 21st Century is, of course, a wee riff on the old Buck Rogers in the 25th Century TV show that I used to watch when I was a kid.

I just figured that since I’m into stuff like that, and given that my name is Bob Mitchell and this is in fact the 21st Century, that’s what I would call the blog.
