The not-so-Fantastic Four

I see that the latest FF movie is out on DVD this week and note that Sue Storm gets to do all kinds of cool stuff, compared to what she had to resort to in when King of the B-movie  Roger Corman made his little-seen 1994 version. Click the link above for some YouTube goodness, just in case this video I tried to embed below doesn’t work (it is my first time).

In the latest multi-million dollar effort, Sue gets to do stuff like save her wedding guests from a helicopter that is crashing onto the Baxter Building roof. Check this…

Go Sue!

That's some wacky shit right there

What a gal!

Now compare that incredible rescue to this dramatic scene from Roger Corman’s movie.

Sue is just about to be jumped by some of Dr Doom’s goons, so she turns invisible, presumbly she dodges away and that leaves the bad guys to bump into each other and knock themselves out Marx Brothers-style. Comedy gold.

Ready.....!

Going....!

Gone!

Comedy genius!

Corman Sue looks like she may have tucked her Fantasti-Shirt to far into her pants.

She’s no patch on Alba, that’s for sure!

I honestly don’t see much of a difference. If the Corman film had been released, I would have gone and watched it. Dr Doom seems more badass. Or should that read “worseass”?

Corman’s Dr Doom does have spikes in his gloves. Hard core
